Kubrick said "perfection cannot be attained" and then instantly proved himself wrong after creating this film. A pioneer of suspense and a film with some genuinely disturbing elements, the Shining is the best of its kind. An outrageously outstanding performance from Nicholson is one for the history books and an ending up for interpretation makes you keep coming back. A 10/10 watch for me.
