Watchmen
Very much in the spirit of the comic in that it includes such an attention to detail, political relevance, and challenging approach to masked heroes ("Masks make a man true" - “Masks make a man cruel”). While sometimes the show's editing feels like it doesn't trust its audience to be smart enough to understand what's going on (plenty of flashbacks to moments earlier in the show), Watchmen, especially episode 6, still works as a stinging critique of superheroes. As Alan Moore put it a few years back, most superheroes exist as "very much white supremacist dreams of the master race. In fact, I think that a good argument can be made for D.W. Griffith’s Birth of a Nation as the first American superhero movie, and the point of origin for all those capes and masks." This Watchmen serves to not only work as a recognition of that statement, but as an attempt to reconcile with it and, like Moore did with the original Watchmen, rewrite history to expose it.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross absolutely kill it on the score tho.
