Sentimental Value

Skarsgard’s continue to prove why they’re the best acting family  This is amazing, so beautifully written and shot and performed. I love how the house is utilized so much it almost feels like a character. The opening sequence to this film is absolutely beautiful, it’s honestly perfect. The one takes are also amazing the emotional core to this film hits and it hits hard. I personally cried and so did the majority of my sold out theater. One of my favorite parts of the film is how it changes perspective, we follow Nora then Gustav and back and forth with them until we see Agnes’ perspective and then we jump between all 3 and it is done so seamlessly and well and fits into the pacing so well.  I really hope Renate Reinsve gets nominated for this and hopefully wins because she’s amazing she pulls off the subtle anger and resentment towards her father so well. Stellan of course is great as he usually is in anything he appears in. Inga Lilleas gives a great performance as well as Agnes and Elle Fanning does great having to act like she’s bad at acting.  I love the themes of this film and all the characters as well. The ending shot of her father watching her perform and her finally seeing her dad watch her perform is just so beautiful. I love this film
