Inland Empire
Holy shittt. I can’t wait to rewatch it.
Despite me giving up during the last third to decipher specifically some scenes (the bunnies, the screwdriver and whatever was happening in Poland), I do like to believe that I have a broad understanding of at least some themes, but that’s to be seen on my rewatch.
There will never be a movie ever like this one. Sure, the music and acting are great, but the raw structure and the emotions that it is able to convey really solidify Lynch as a creator of "moving paintings". It shows that people can create cinematic beauty despite lacking a good camera and a cohesive narrative structure.
I can’t believe this usually ranks low on people’s top favourite Lynch movies, whereas to me it automatically is in my Top 3. It’s not perfect, but god there is so much to love in this one.
Also TERRY FUCKING CREWS IS IN IT!!!
