Kotoko
Watched while my internet was out.
This is one of many unseen Tsukamotos for me, one I've seen a handful of people talk about. Right off the bat I love this kid's madcap dance routine, and how it immediately transforms into a scene of audible terror, a state of terror which seems permanent for our lead, played by a famous singer.
The POV shot of her singing was one of a few stretches that made my jaw drop, but nothing beats the final minutes of the film.
An immensely bleak and feel-bad film. If you have ever had a child, known a child, or been a child, it might be better to skip this movie. I say that as a joke, but I also mean it. I felt physically ill and emotionally drained after watching this, and I experienced full-body pain.
