Vertigo
I watched this for the first time close to 5 years ago before my family took a trip to San Francisco. My parents wanted me to see just how beautiful the city used to be. On rewatch I was reminded just how amazing the shots of the city in this film are. I love how Hitchcock reached his stylistic peak here as well. The scene right after intermission where Scottie’s in his nightmare and the animation takes over is insane for a 1958 film. What a cool addition. I’d also like to submit this film into the running for the coolest plot twist of all time. I had honestly forgotten how wonderfully perfect it was and how my jaw dropped when I found out. I loved the acting from Stewart (greatest actor of all time) and Novak as well. The shining plot with amazing thickness in true genius Hitchcock form makes this one of the greatest films of all time. The only flaw in this film is the abruptness of the ending. Outside of that, Hitchcock’s magnum opus is one of the best thriller mysteries of all time.
