Phantom Thread
Paul Thomas Anderson is truly a freak genius writer and director, Phantom Thread is perfect.
which surprises me a bit, but shouldn’t at all.
Phantom Thread was the final PTA I needed to watch before his new film, One Battle After Another.
Throughout my binge of his filmography, I never built up much excitement for Phantom Thread. The reason for that strictly being that I thought it was just a film about a dressmaker. Which is far from the truth.
Phantom Thread is a complicated love story about a toxic yet healing relationship. It can be seen as a battle for power, or a battle to fully understand eachother.
To me Phantom Thread stands as the greatest love story I’ve consumed. I’ve genuinely never been so taken aback by a film.
Daniel Day Lewis delivers to me a performance that tops TWBB and a major proponent to that is that PTA just directed and wrote the best and most quotable romance/drama script.
His portrayal of an obsessive genius is truly to be marveled at.
Phantom Thread is truly a masterpiece in every way. I find so many ways to connect and relate to this story about an obsessively cold man who is a major control freak and a Muse that won’t let herself fall fully under his needle.
This truly is such a delicate and intimate film and is going to leave such a mark to me in the little ways that it reminds me of my past relationships.
I don’t think I will ever stop talking about the beauty of this film as it truly has some of the best cinematography I’ve ever seen, and one of the most complex toxic love stories I’ve ever seen.
Phantom Thread depending on my mood could be my favorite movie ever, any day.
