Superman
James Gunn’s Superman is absolutely everything to me.
It’s a Gunn special. Superman blends humor, action and heart with care, pace and precision.
Corenswet is magnificent. He was born for this role. He is Superman.
Nicholas Hoult is magnificent. He was born for his role.
I. Love. Skyler. Gisondo. His performance as Jimmy Olsen made my theater cackle every time he was on screen. Absolutely perfectly casted.
In general, Superman was two hours and 10 minutes away from any anxiety about life. That’s why I love movies. But this is more than just a reprieve from life’s worries. Superman is about hope. It’s about humanity. It’s about deciding to speak up for those around you who can’t. Superman as a superhero has always been different than any other. Typically, it’s a “beat the bad guy” from my hero-limited knowledge. Corenswet encapsulates who Superman has always been — full of heart. Full of hope. Eager to serve ALL.
“Your choices, your actions. That’s what makes you who you are.”

^ #That scene is one of my favorites I’ve seen in a long time. It got me weepy.
I cried four times. I basically cried without ceasing the final 50 minutes of this film. The final scene was a perfect finish; it couldn’t have closed any better.
What an amazing experience in a packed out theater at the Chattanooga Aquarium IMAX. What a night. What a movie. What a freaking movie.
