Nosferatu
Movie of the year, loved it so much Idek where to start.
This was about a faithful a remake as I would’ve hoped for but modernized in ways I’m so grateful for, Willem Dafoe. The anxiety and suspense the film creates was suffocating and was the most anxious and scared I had been in a theater in a long time. I was never so relieved to see the sun rise throughout this film.
The acting is outstanding, every character is so believable in their horror and malice that it is so easy to be immersed and hypnotized by the film. Lily Rose-Depp deserves a nomination at the least for her performance. If we lived in a perfect world every actor tied to this would receive an award for their contribution to the immersion but that’s unrealistic unfortunately.
Immersion is what Eggers exceeds in through his entire filmography and this may be my favorite of his work in displaying any time period, fully encapsulating the audience in its gothic horror.
This will likely be my movie of the year, definitely need to think about it a bit more but I know I will be thinking about this film for a long time.
Fang-tastic!
