Saltburn
I am at a complete loss for words on how to describe this. What an absolutely incredible film.
I adored this. The intricate details of every scene, the cinematography, the colours, the music, the casting, the acting, the styling, the ridiculousness, everything. This was anti-rich, fucked up, sensual, insane, everything I love to see in a film. Also, as a lover of queer cinema, the way this film speaks on homosexual desire without a gay relationship even being the focal point of the film, so well executed.
What incredible performances from Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi as well, oh my god. I had respect for Barry Keoghan after The Killing of a Sacred Deer but wow, by far my favourite performance of his, he really just embodies the manipulative little guy role and I love it. I never understood the hype around Jacob Elordi but I get it now (not just because of the eyebrow piercing, although I really appreciated that), far and away the best acting he has ever done in film or television in my opinion.
By far my favourite film of 2023 and rightfully so, Emerald Fennell outdid herself with this one. What a fucking trip.
