The Believer

What an interesting and attention grabbing film. I have to say, i was dreading it. I really thought i would hate this movie because you have to handle themes and topics like this one very carefully for me not to rage through the entire thing once anyone utters something problematic. And if it wasn't for the great main character, I probably would have. Maybe i just really enjoy internal conflict and hypocracy in characters, but i thought Danny's personality was excellently done. He is so complex and we understand that from the first moment he starts talking. There is more to him than meets the eye and we get to progressively learn about that deeper layer of him in sync with his own realizations about himself. I also think the "redemption arc" if you could call it that was perfect. There were parts that brought me to tears. The reason i'm not rating this higher is because i really wasn't a fan of the cinematography and the way certain scenes were executed, let alone the ones that felt completely unneccessary.
