Holy fucking shit I had no idea how good this was. Listen Anora fans I’m sorry I thought it was a great movie but the more I watch the other movies that came out that year, I don’t know how it won best picture and this wasn’t even nominated!!! Over fucking Emilia Perez are we fr rn??!? This movie is a triumph in story telling and film making Colman Domingo puts on the performance of his life and brought me to tears. I genuinely didn’t realize it was a true story until the credits rolled and real clips of the play came up. And my god every time a new inmate would walk in front of the camera and it said “as himself” I couldn’t believe it. Like half way through the movie I thought to myself that I like how all of the inmates feel like real people and I haven’t seen any of them in other things before! God everything about it is so good and should set a new standard not only for movies based on true stories but movies in general. A24 how dare you not push this movie more I wish I saw this in theaters.
