Train Dreams
Just an absolutely visually stunning movie. Up there with Sinners for the best cinematography I saw this year. I'm so glad they shot the movie on location because it made the viewing experience unbelievable. The richness of the colors, the brilliant use of lighting and the diversity of shots completely blew me away. As for the narrative, I've never been so moved by a story that seems quite unremarkable on the surface. Joel Edgerton's performance is meant to remind the audience that every life matters and that it is of the upmost importance that you do no let anything derail you from your course to find meaning within your own life. I also think the movie was a great reminder of the fact that life is short and it can feel easy to let time just flow past you during difficult moments but there's a scene towards the end of the movie that really highlights the necessity of creating memories that you can look back on fondly when it is all said and done. I think the essence of this movie is somewhat difficult to capture with words (at least for me) so I'm going to leave this review a bit short and just say everyone should definitely watch this movie and maybe afterwards reflect on how you are conducting your own life.
