Parasite
i did see this when i was 14, and whilst i did love it then for the building of tension and atmosphere, i was arguably too young and uncertain about the concept of imagery to really understand what was going on. i couldn't understand it on a broader societal level, but only on the level of the experiences of the family itself. but recognising all of this now, and realising that the two families are a microcosm for the class system at large... is like watching a different film altogether. it might seem obvious now, but in early 2020 this was maybe the third film i'd seen which wasn't part of a Cinematic Universe or a family-friendly classic my dad recommended, so watching your understanding of the world and of cinema as an art form grow alongside such an incredible, mind-blowingly well-written film is a bizarre feeling.
