CODA
never in a million years would i have imagined a movie like this to win best picture, not because it was bad, but because movies this simple, conforming, and chill usually never get highly recognized (lady bird as an example), but man i’m so glad this did.
it’s not some huge production with a crazy plot or insane cgi, and it probably wont be remembered in 30 years like the godfather is, but to me it’s perfect. from the lead, to the colors, to the supporting actors, everything just works. wow, this really caught me off guard for a coming of age film, especially coming from apple tv, considering how bad netflix has tried to make movies like this before.
i haven’t seen many movies from that year so i don’t know if its deservant or not, but there’s something so genuine and warm about it that made it feel way more special than i expected. this one really hit close to my heart even if i don’t relate to it whatsoever, masterpiece.
