Train Dreams
5 minutes in and I knew this one would be special. A character study that tackles subjects like grief and loneliness. Things I struggle with as well, so this hit a little close to home. The world is used as a tool to tell a story. The sound as well. Probably the most beautiful cinematography of the year, and arguably one of the best scores as well. I’ve been saying for years that Joel Edgerton deserves more recognition. This movie truly defines his career for me, with a heartbreaking, raw and beautiful performance. William H. Macy is great as well. I cried multiple times, and I was a mess from the moment I heard “holding on” right till the very end. I really hope that this will get a boost for award season.
