Remarkably Bright Creatures
The like feature of Letterboxd is a highly discussed metric. What does it really measure? What do you use it for? How does it contribute to the movie or your rating? I'll let you in on what I use the like for: for when a movie has an emotional connection to me.
As you have already guessed, Remarkably Bright Creatures was able to find a small place in my heart and actually made my eyes watery. THRICE.
This film is beautiful, its documentary wise perspective style from the Octopus so strongly voiced by Alfred Molina gave it a unique touch that let the generic concept of the movie bear fruits it couldn't have any other how.
Lewis Pullman with a super authentic performance that brings this raw slice-of-life yet magical flair to Cameron that makes the relationships he makes feel superbly emotional.
And then there would be Sally Field who gives this movie its final quality, she transforms this old cleaning lady into a whole identity that you can feel for and build a connection with.
A truly beautiful film, although the story is simple it's heartwarming and one of those few times Netflix actually brought some quality to their service. I really hope this wins the Emmy.
Minor masterpiece, definitely earned that title after making my eyes water up like 3 times in the last 15 minutes.
