watched this film for the first time back in lockdown and really did not grasp how fucking good it is. was taken out for a birthday present to watch it in the cinema and my god my view on this film has changed. it goes without saying it’s visually breathtaking and that its sound design brings to life the accompanying feelings of unease to the dystopian world created perfectly. god damn the synth. also didn’t quite grasp the ethical complexities raised surrounding replicant’s mortality and the overwhelming existentialism of every character the first time round. and fuck me what an antagonist in Roy - genuinely terrifying yet so complex
