rooney mara and cate blanchett’s onscreen chemistry is what makes the this so amazing to me. they’re both incredibly talented women who have the unique capabilities to tell a story by merely glancing at eachother. in every scene they share, you can feel the emotion - the sense of their characters wanting eachother so intensely, even without saying anything. it’s displayed so subtley, but it’s obvious enough to recognise. i really do believe that if therese and carol were portrayed by different actresses, it could never compare to the film we have now. i know i say this a lot as a joke, but this movie actually made my depression go away (for now at least lmao). whenever i watch the final scene, whether it be during a viewing of the entire film or just a clip on youtube, i’m filled with an immense amount of joy that is completely inexpressible. i’m overwhelmed with emotions even just thinking about the ending!! i have so much adoration for this film and i hope it someday achieves the recognition it deserves.
