Sinister
“Don't worry, Daddy. I'll make you famous again.“
Okay but like, people really hyped this up as one of the scariest movies ever and… no offense, but I was sitting there waiting to be traumatized and it never fully hit. Like yeah, it was creepy, and the vibes were off in all the right ways, but scary? Not really.
BUT the storyline was so good. Every little clue added more tension, and I loved that it didn’t fall into the usual “it was the dad” or “cop has a secret past” twist. Nah. They went full-on demon lore and made it work. The whole idea of an ancient, kid-stealing entity using cursed home movies is a terrifying concept. Plus, the way it all unraveled across different families and houses was so smart.
So yeah, not the scariest thing I’ve ever seen, but it was chilling in its own way. A solid, eerie mystery with just enough tension to keep me hooked. And I’m 100% watching Sinister 2 next. If Bagul doesn’t traumatize me in that one, we’re throwing hands.
