Thief

Best watched at night in complete darkness Mann is without question, one of the coolest directors to ever do it. In terms of debut features, I don’t think anyone has had a better start to a directing career than him, truly up there with the likes of Sidney Lumet, David Lynch and Greta Gerwig. He cemented his style from the start, consistently using brilliant original scores, great attention to detail, fleshed-out and deeply layered characters and some truly amazing cinematography and writing, in-turn making some of the best neo-noirs of the last five decades. Thief is an all-timer.
