Barbie
In a very fitting sequel to my last review for this movie, one of my Christmas presents from my grandma was a film director Barbie doll.
When my family wanted to have a movie night I actually pushed back against the suggestion of Barbie. I read a lot of reviews and think pieces on the movie after it first came out and I think I was afraid that when I rewatched it it would all come apart and I’d lose that feeling I had when I saw it the first time. But I didn’t. If anything I think rewatching it solidified all the disparate but enjoyable pieces from my first time viewing into a more complete picture. There’s no such thing as a perfect film, or one that doesn’t warrant discussion of its flaws, but there’s something so deeply compelling to me about this film that it’s not a conversation I care to be involved in to a certain extent.
