Fallen Angels
A touching and melancholy romantic action comedy? This Is the best way I can describe this this masterpiece. My first movie from Wong kar wai and from The first frame I was absolutely locked in. This is the most beautiful movie I have ever seen? Like the visual style definitely gets a bit self indulgent at times but this is one of the rare cases where that isn’t an issue. I mean wow. This is like a different type of beauty it’s gritty it’s raw it’s unpolished but it’s real it’s like something catching your eye on a walk at night. I loved the narrative although if I’m being honest I had trouble following it at times it does turn to vibes but I was able to pick it up as the story progressed as it manages to blend vibes and storytelling perfect. This film manages to combine so many contrasting elements so effectively it’s shocking like how is this movie so tranquil and dream like yet also chaotic and hectic? The use of color and just the style and the characters eveything is so effortlessly yet meticulously cool? Atmosphere is probably the best part about this movie. It really feels like ur on the streets of Hong Kong. And I liked the story. It’s simple yet captivating and effective at what it trys to do. It makes you laugh, root for the characters and also feel bad for them when they fuck up, and understand them when they make questionable decisions. A truly great film
