Perfect Blue

Such an amazing movie. You can shape the ending and the meaning to fit however you view the world. I have never seen the blur between what’s real and what’s not as well done as this movie before. It’s practically a perfect psychological thriller. Tells a story of the sexual exploitation of women in the entertainment industry, parasocial relationships and even the reverse, rape, identity and insanity, but also a story of mental fortitude.  This movie gives me so many thoughts that I can’t even begin to describe. It keeps you completely hooked and completely immersed every second of the film, not many can do that. Near the end I thought to myself “I’m literally not smart enough to understand this” but in just 5 minutes it completely wraps up perfectly, with an open-to-interpretation ending that matches the whole movie perfectly, letting you reach your own conclusions.  Definitely a masterpiece, and one I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Partly because it’s so terrifying.
