Yi Yi
why are we afraid of the first time? everyday in life is a first time. every morning is new. we never live the same day twice.
wow, i literally have no words for this. i think i forgot why i love asian films so much. no other films made me feel this way. i feel so touched, so moved by everything. i wanna make films too, i want to make others feel the same feeling i felt while watching this. there was a weird comfort this film brought me, i cant put it into words. if u know me, u know i cried at that last part and that i took pics of those quotes that left me staring at the ceiling. ok so here are my faves:
daddy, i cant see what you see and you cant see what i see. how can i know what you see?
daddy, can we only know half of the truth? i can only see what’s in front, not what’s behind. so, i can only know half of the truth right?
something about this is so clever, and the moment i realize why yang yang was taking pics peoples backs, i paused the movie and stared at the ceiling once again
there’s very little i’m sure about these days. i wake up feeling unsure about almost everything. and i wonder why i wake up at all, just to face the same uncertainties again and again. would you want to wake up, if you were me?
this one hits the most, cuz im in that moment in my life where i’m just not sure of everything. i wonder and wonder and wonder, but get nowhere. i wish i could be more sure of something, of anything. it’s hard to live life blindly
life is a mixture of sad and happy things. movies are so lifelike, that's why we love them. "we live three times as long since man invented movies,” it means movies give us twice what we get from daily life.
and this is exactly why i love movies. it feels like i get to live stories of other people very different from me. this is why i wanna make films someday, to relive my life at least two more times
why is the world so different from what we thought it was?
i feel like expectations are what keeps us going and reality is just something that’s always there. expectations are those dreams we keep having and reality is what reminds us of our limits. so maybe that’s why life always feels so different. we expect so much (nothing bad about it tho… ig)
i’ve come to realize, things aren't really so complicated. why did they ever seem so?
this is the realization i need daily. i feel like i always make things a big deal but in reality, im the one making it more complicated… overthinking is a btch
but grandma, i know so little. do you know what i want to do when i grow up? i want to tell people things they don't know, show them stuff they haven't seen
i love yang yang so much, maybe i miss what it feels like to be young and to be so curious about so many random things
i love this film so much UGHHH (i start by saying i have no words for this but end up saying a lot… PLS)
