Primer
This is a story about some smart guys that are on the forefront of scientific discovery in their garage and how they deal with the ethical dilemma of their technology. The story is told somewhat backwards, in the way that we don’t understand what is happening until later. There was TONS of foreshadowing and language that doesn’t make sense until later, so the rewatch value of this film is immense.
I like how this film is shot. It is very chaotic, lots of rapid cuts on handheld cameras combined with the fast dialogue on topics that are extremely complex. It makes this feeling of tension which signifies the hard work and chaotic nature of their experiments. There are a few scenes with a great sense of focus on the present moment. There are combinations of close and personal shots and shots of their conversations have have the room and the area as the primary focus, and not the people themselves. There are also so many close shots of the back of their heads as they are thinking or imagining something, and I really like that.
I think the two main actors have great chemistry as well. They seem like excellent friends.
DEFINITELY going to need to watch it again. Super complex movie but I really liked it.
