Monster
Kore-eda did it, once again.
that sound of brass instruments that made you so anxious and think of the worst scenarios, in the end makes you smile with tears overflowing from your eyes, giving you warmth and feeling like you're reborn.
“Blow it away.”
the message this movie wants to convey is immaculate.
look for the monster. no one is the monster.
and if no one is the monster, why "monster"? who is the monster?
*"Why was i born?"
*feeling like the monster, not being a monster. both minato and yori felt like that, and i could feel so deeply the helpless pain that yori felt and hopeless feelings of minato.
"When you're attacked, you let go of all your strenght and give up [..] you stop feeling."
"Am i Hoshikawa Yori?"
i can't help myself.
the way my heart shuttered when minato accepted the way he was feeling.
hearing a child say:
*"I'm not really sure.. but I like someone.
**I can't tell anyone, so I lie.
**Cause they'll know I can never be happy."*
made me realise that this would be my new favourite movie of all time
i can't even comment or say much about the cinematography or the acting because it makes no sense how perfect it is.
the beautiful sceneries of the decorated train wagon are mesmerising—their little world.
my eyes were wide open staring at the screen the whole time, but then started to tear up so much i could barely breathe.
it's capable of making you think about the entire scenario of the movie and then taking it away from you again and again several times, all of this in 2 hours.
"But that's nonsense.
If only some people can have it, that's not happiness.
That's just nonsense.
Happiness is something anyone can have."
for two years of my life i believed that i could never achieve happiness, or rather, that i didn't deserve it in any way.
i don't think i've ever felt so comforted as i do now.
