Boyhood
Richard linklater is a master at these slice-of-life movies. First the Before trilogy made over the timespan of 18 years and now boyhood made in 12 years. Insane dedication. Ethan hawke is so goddamn cool throughout this whole thing. I was like I need to spend a weeknd with this guy lmao. His acting is so natural and genuine. Every conversation was so sweet and natural anddd fun to hear. Everything in this movie hits so hard cuz I'm at the exact age Mason is at the end of the movie, in the exact same situation, just left my home for college. It just hits idk. I feel guilty for leaving but I had to leave. This movie just made me reminisce all my life, and all the memories with my parents and my friends. I feel like I grew up once again watching Mason grow. And it's so weird to see the actor ACTUALLY growing up. Gotta appreciate the dedication. He is also super relatable personally. There is no big plot (Like all linklater movies) it's just watching a journey of a kid for almost 3 hours and I loved all of it, even though it goes a LIL down in the second half, but I won't hold that against it. Didn't get bored in the slightest. And that ending when 'HERO' plays. Wow.
What a movie, what a journey. Richard linklater might be my my top 3 favourite director after this
