Superman

"Maybe that's the real punk rock."The perfect story for the perfect time. I don't think there was a better director for this movie. Gunn's personal story in the lead up to this production informs every strand of DNA in this film. It's bold decisions sum up all that makes Superman such an important character in the mythos of superheroes, comics, America, and film.  The movie isn't without flaws, some dialogue is stiff and it's clear Gunn is playing in unknown territory. I can feel his urge to undercut earnest emotion at times in favor of a punch line, but I still adore this film flaws and all. I'm so glad Gunn took this risk and I couldn't be more excited for where we go next. I've been a DC fan as long as I can remember and I haven't felt more hopeful for its cinematic future. This won't work for everyone but it works for me, at times it literally felt like it was made specifically for me.
