Resurrection

Resurrection is truly the pinnacle of "love letter to cinema" films. While most films in this genre focus on the industry, the artists, or the nostalgic aspects of it, Bi Gan goes beyond this by delivering an homage to the medium itself. Following the Fantasmer, which is also a personification of cinema, we are taken on a six-segment journey filled with different senses such as vision, hearing, taste, smell, and touch, with each segment reflecting a specific era and style of filmmaking, from German Expressionism, Film Noir, to modern vampire dramas. Resurrection makes us experience the evolution of film. As the film implies, as long as we continue the act of collective dreaming by going to the cinema, we will always be participants in cinema’s journey. Till the end of the world.
