Spider-Man
It’s nice to revisit a movie from your childhood that you loved and learn that it still holds up.
Sam Raimi’s first Spider-man movie is objectively not a perfect 5/5 but for me it subjectively is.
The cast is great, Tobey Maguire is the world’s most endearing and likeable dork which makes him a perfect Peter Parker, while i still like Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland, Tobey will always have a special place in my heart. Willem Defoe hams it up to eleven and he’s absurdly entertaining, JK Simmons is an absolute legend, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco are both quite good and have great chemistry with their co-stars. The cast works really well basically.
The visual effects were amazing for the time, the real star of this movie though for me is the editing which heightens the experience of watching the movie.
The dialouge maybe absolutely cheesy but for a comic book adaptation it works well and there’s an extra layer of subtext and foreshadowing added.
So yeah truth be told not a perfect movie and again it is unbelievably cheesy but i love it and rewatching was really fun.
