Frankenstein
I don’t even know where to start: set design, costumes, Mia Goth’s hair, Jacob Elordi’s Franken-hair, Bible references, Prometheus allusions featuring Christoph Waltz, and that beautiful sunrise.
While it’s not 100% faithful to the book (but what movie really is), I think Del Toro’s vision is going to stand the test of time when it comes to adaptations of Gothic classics. And in the end, it’s really the ultimate prequel for Oscar Isaac in Ex Machina; The Creature is AI in analog form with more of a soul (and also daddy issues) than a machine can ever possibly have.
