Perfect Blue

Japanuary 2026 #32 - Anime Lists 1 and 2 🚨 UNC GEM 🚨  Genuinely so much going on in this one in terms of theming. I feel like I could pick it apart and talk about it for hours. This film brilliantly weaves ideas of toxic fandom culture, fame, identity, misogyny and agency in such a creative and terrifying way. It bounces between reality and fantasy, the POV of the public vs Mima herself and of course between the two Mimas. Really creative and innovative stuff.
