Gummo

Harmony Korine has a reputation of making films that are very controversial, and this applies to Gummo as well, maybe not as much as Trash Humpers or Baby Invasion but still. When we go to the cinema or even just turn on the tv to watch a film, we go in expecting a story, one that tells lives that are to marvellous to ever exist however, Gummo is the complete opposite of this narrative. Gummo is in no way rewarding, nor entertaining except a few moments, and it was made to be like this. The violence against cats, the impurity of the children, all of these combine to show a nihilistic and meaningless story with no character development or really plot.
