The Fall
About 90% of this film's cinematography is utterly jaw-dropping. How do you make a cup of coffee falling over look like a painting? Lee Pace has the most beautiful voice; listening to his silk-like tones narrating the absolute insanity that is this film is absolutely delightful. Also, he’s really handsome. This is the first time in a film I’ve ever truly noticed costume design; from Darwin’s rather fabulous coat to the helms worn by Odious’s soldiers, everything felt like it was meticulously chosen to make this film as impressive as possible. The ending is genuinely devastating as we cut between the decimation of our hero and Roy’s shame for lying to Alexandria. This is not a film about Roy’s lie going too far; this is a film about the beauty of getting lost in a story, and there is no better story to be lost in than the fall.
