Logan
Rewatching this, as my girlfriend can attest, is one of the most miserable experiences ever. I watched it for the first time at eleven years old and it became my favorite film to the point that my dog is named logan. i always tear up at Charles’ face when he just pours out his heart to who he thinks is logan just to be killed by him. for years i had thought Chuck had died there and didn’t get to realize it wasn’t Logan that did it but this rewatch i finally got to get rid of that horrible feeling. only real solace this movie gave me.
undeniably a front runner for the title of best superhero movie, and tho i think it’s been beaten by Reeves’ batman film it’s still such a shining example of how to elevate the often shallow and subpar genre. Speaking of i love what it says ab genre and the western and the superhero film and ab aging.
it bums me out to no end that the ending of this film is soured a bit by deadpool 3 (which i’m watching tomorrow). this was the perfect send off to hugh jackman’s wolverine. now it isn’t a send off anymore because disney and marvel won’t let their characters die. least we get to see him in the suit (tho from the trailers it looks rlly bad).
someone on twitter said that it was ironic how the big physical threat of this film is a younger soulless clone of wolverine because of a corporation’s refusal to let him die or age…
