Inception
Christopher Nolan just knows how to execute a grand vision. There’s so much going on with a variety of different characters, and it reaches layers of emotional depth. Truly phenomenal.
Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic in this, which is no surprise, but still. Him and Joseph Gordon-Levitt leading the charge of a star-studded squad is so much fun to watch. The energy in the action sequences is unreal.
Ken Watanabe’s Saito is a standout for me, though. Off rip, he’s an extremely compelling character, and watching his position change as he becomes more familiar with Cobb and his work is a core element here.
I just want to point out that everyone has something to do. Films on this scale are sometimes faulted for trying to do too much, but that’s not the case here. Yusuf pulls some crazy weight with the driving, though. Holy lol.
You also have Hans Zimmer’s score underneath everything, pushing it to the next level. I wouldn’t think I’d get as emotional as I did with this, but that ending is truly special. Wow. I have to go through Nolan’s other films again.
