Amélie
This film is like a gentle warmth to the soul, like a big hug. It makes you notice all the small details about everything and everyone, what they like and what they don't, how they feel and see things. From the crack of a crème brûlée, and the feel of the grains flowing between her fingers, Amélie shows us that joy can be found in the simplest of gestures. She brings so much life, and I adore her thoughtful outlook on the world around her. She's socially anxious and introverted, but yet she still manages to make it a lovelier place through her anonymous acts of kindness and quiet attempts to brighten the lives of those around her. There's something so tender about the way she observes the world, with such genuine care. It reminds you how beautiful it is to simply notice and give, even in very small ways. All of these components make you ultimately feel happy. Really happy.
As for film composition, it's simply gorgeous. The colour palate is so unique and flavourful, it kinda matches her whimsy and warmth. You genuinely see some of the best camera shots you'll ever behold, like Bruno Delbonnel can see amongst the camera. The music fits so well, and in elevates scenes perfectly.
Anyway, Amélie is such a fantastic film that will make you feel wonderful; and please, if you haven't already, give this a watch and five stars.
