this is like evil magnolia might be one of if not the most disturbing film i’ve ever seen bill is probably the most horrific character i’ve ever seen… “would you fuck me dad?” “no… i’d jerk off instead” i don’t think ive ever been more disgusted at myself for laughing at something in my life philip seymour hoffman is the standout actor in this film for me. i feel like he plays awkward characters like this so well, like scotty in boogie nights. the fact you can have someone like him in this film and he’s not even the most disgusting character in the film is insane. probably my least favourite storyline in this is the one with the sisters’ parents divorce, i didn’t care for it all too much. didn’t realise donna from twin peaks was in this until the last scene overall i thought this film was brilliant, probably not something i can see myself watching again for quite a while, but i feel like this film really nailed showing the grimy underside of suburbia, crazy we walk past people like bill everyday.
