9

Easily the best animated film I've seen. Not only is it incredibly unique and stylish, but it does a lot that most "kids" films would be willing to do. For example, 5 out of the 9 main characters just fucking straight up die. It's also very creepy and deals with some very heavy topics like war, genocide, advanced artificial intelligence, and suicide.A lot of the aspects within this movie also kind of reflect humanity in a sense, like with the social hierarchy between the 9, and all of the different personalities.I think 9 is an incredibly mature and thought-provoking movie, not only for kids' movies, but just in general. If you haven't seen this, I suggest you watch it, although it may be hard to find and watch online.Underrated, underappreciated, and genuinely really entertaining.(Also, the animation is considered by many to be bad, but I think it's actually really good and unique for its budget and for the time it came out.)Sci-Fi Ranking
