Bugonia
I fucking love movies so much. Bugonia is an absolutely phenomenal film, that covers a wide array of concepts, and themes. The film was made by Yorgos Lanthimos, and this is my second movie that I've seen of his. I refuse to reveal anything major about this movie or plot, because it's one of those films that you need to come into, completely blind. The only thing you need to know is the trailer, which is great because you barely get anything from it, it tells you what you need to know. Ted the conspiracy theorist, and his skeptical autistic cousin, kidnap an influential CEO because ted is convinced, she's an alien. The rest, you'll have to see for yourself, and don't try to imagine or guess what will happen next, because it just won't work.Aside from the plot itself, this is meant to be a very allegorical movie, from the characters literal wealth distribution to Emma stones character and what she represents in terms of corporate corruption. Just about every aspect of this movie is layered, hell even the title itself is a reference to bees and humanities ever evolving "faith". Bugonia is easy the best movie I have seen from this year, and probably even one of the best movies I have seen in general.I don't know exactly how Yorgos is able to create such distinct, uneasy, and tense environments as he does in his films, but he does it beautifully and genuinely had me questioning EVERYONE.And honestly, so far that's what it seems Yorgos is best at, you never know the full truth till the very end.If you watched this movie yet, you need to, this isn't the type of film that comes around in theaters often. (ironic that I say this after having missed seeing obaa in theaters lmfao)
