Wild Strawberries
98/100
Bergman creates a trip, physical, mental and imaginary in which the viewer gets lost. It deals with old age and the regrets about the past, the confrontation with new generations, the meaning of life and the existence of God (which Bergman puts in his film like a side dish). At the end of the day, even if it's a sad film which made me want to kill myself after it finished, it's pretty optimistic as Marianne, in a way, manages to bring peace to the two generations, leaving some hope for her son. Of course, Victor Sjöström is wonderful and really manages to capture his character, a really complex one.
