Moonlight
in moonlight, black boys look blue.
tears. if only i could watch this for the first time again. this movie will forever be one of the best films i’ve ever seen. it tells a meaningful, deep story that you rarely come across, and it does so so beautifully. the editing? impeccable. the acting? impeccable. the casting? impeccable. the movie overall? IMPECCABLE. like i said in my first review of this movie, chiron’s truly my everything, and all three of his actors did wonderful jobs with him. watching this film was like watching a friend i worry about go through the absolute worst. i see my younger brother in little (chiron in the first chapter), and it hurts knowing that so many black boys endure the undeserved bullying, betrayal, and trauma that he endures in the movie. i’m just glad he got to truly embrace himself in the end (no doomed yaoi around here yo). moonlight, you’ll always have a special place in my heart. those oscars were deserved 🩵
