Threads
I love waking up randomly in night and deciding "you know what let me watch that really funny Sheffield-set romcom Threads again".
I really loved jokes such as when Reece Dinsdale offers his girlfriend a disgusting bit of Sheffield grass and then gets a bit of her Sheffield arse. Other standout comedic moments are plenty such as when Reece Dinsdale crashes out over a discussion about the birds and the bees.
However, my immersion was broken by Reece Dinsdale's little sister genuinely revising and shopping while listening to classical music, is she a neek or something. Like girl you come from a lower class family, no need to be all pretend pretentious when you are clearly on the dole. She genuinely pissed me off so much, I jumped for joy when those nukes started falling and she was presumably killed off screen.
I did cry though when Reece Dinsdale died off screen, it hit me like a truck because after that there weren't many good jokes. Sure you had stuff like "NO ROADS LEFT" and all that funny stuff in the bunker but slowly the jokes didn't hit. I wonder if they had kept Reece Dinsdale on set as a sort of guru then these gormless sods would how to act in a romcom. They all just stop saying words and start pretending to be all traumatised and everything becomes more based on visuals. They do know that slapstick comedy is on it's way out and has been since 1976? This is something Reece Dinsdale's talent would not allow.
