uma thurman as mia wallace deserved more screentime that diva ate. also samuel jackson as jules?? crazy good i havent seen the movie that won for best supporting actor that year but im thinking samuel shouldve won bc he captured my heart for real. hes so good in every movie ive seen him in (and there sure are a lot of them). oh also i hated the haircut they gave vincent like what the FUCK is that 😭 on a separate note, the dancing scene with mia is iconic. theres just two main things that i have to get off my chest that i didnt like about this. the first being that i didnt think butches storyline was entirely necessary, like we couldve shortened a good portion of his part and everything wouldve still tied together because his storyline doesnt completely intertwine with the others’. maybe theres some things that im missing regarding his story but idk. secondly, i know a lot of people praise the non-linear approach of storytelling that tarantino uses here but i personally didnt love it. i thought it made the ending a bit anticlimactic (although it was cool to see the full circle moment where the pieces fit together). like when vincent got killed i was gagged and then they just cut back to him alive again. like in an alternate universe i think it wouldve been cooler if he got shot towards the end of the movie and they found a way to close it based off of that. maybe with butch leaving town bc marcellus told him to get the hell out of there but hey, it was still a pretty decent ending as it was i guess. maybe when i ultimately decide to rewatch this in the future (who knows how faraway that is) my thoughts will change on these two things but for now thats where i stand 🤷♀️ more shit that i need to say - jody (played by rosanna arquette) is fine as fuck in this movie like holy shit i died - i really hope butch gave that watch a good cleaning bc wdym it came out of not one, but two peoples asses? - the scene where they talk about divine intervention after that idiot missed all his shots killed me - little confused on why tarantino felt the need to have himself say the n word (hard r version) 4 times…maybe it was valid usage considering the setting, time, or social stance of the characters and considering jackson defended him i guess its okay but also its still gonna be slightly offputting for me - crazy year for movies because wdym shawshank redemption and forrest gump also came out in this year??

watching movies with my mom is always 10x more entertaining 😭 like the whole time shes sat here “aw little toy tanks” “whats that tiny little gun gonna do?” “you cant kill godzilla” like maam im trying to focus on the movie but also your commentary is too funny 💀 english dub was lowkey pretty annoying but also i didnt feel like reading subtitles today so 🤷♀️ anyways godzilla big guy but no pants okay just big guy (and mean and scary looking shiver me timbers)

céline sciamma i love you thank you for making movies about real life shit and basically creating women. this is a drastic switch from one french movie to another. the portrayal of women in this is so good. like the diamonds scene and the scene in the metro where theyre just singing/dancing to the wop is just so relatable. i also love that this movie opened with a scene of women playing football because thats iconic. but immediately after that scene we see the girls all walking home laughing and having a good time until they walk past a group of boys where they all fall silent. like oh that hit me like a truck. more on that, marieme/vic starts to adopt a more androgynous look where she dresses more masculine, binds her chest, and changes her hairstyle to fit into a male-dominated spaces and that also touched my soul. i definitely ended up crying at the end of the movie so thank you for that céline.
