Pulp Fiction
uma thurman as mia wallace deserved more screentime that diva ate. also samuel jackson as jules?? crazy good i havent seen the movie that won for best supporting actor that year but im thinking samuel shouldve won bc he captured my heart for real. hes so good in every movie ive seen him in (and there sure are a lot of them). oh also i hated the haircut they gave vincent like what the FUCK is that 😭 on a separate note, the dancing scene with mia is iconic.
theres just two main things that i have to get off my chest that i didnt like about this. the first being that i didnt think butches storyline was entirely necessary, like we couldve shortened a good portion of his part and everything wouldve still tied together because his storyline doesnt completely intertwine with the others’. maybe theres some things that im missing regarding his story but idk. secondly, i know a lot of people praise the non-linear approach of storytelling that tarantino uses here but i personally didnt love it. i thought it made the ending a bit anticlimactic (although it was cool to see the full circle moment where the pieces fit together). like when vincent got killed i was gagged and then they just cut back to him alive again. like in an alternate universe i think it wouldve been cooler if he got shot towards the end of the movie and they found a way to close it based off of that. maybe with butch leaving town bc marcellus told him to get the hell out of there but hey, it was still a pretty decent ending as it was i guess. maybe when i ultimately decide to rewatch this in the future (who knows how faraway that is) my thoughts will change on these two things but for now thats where i stand 🤷♀️
more shit that i need to say
- jody (played by rosanna arquette) is fine as fuck in this movie like holy shit i died
- i really hope butch gave that watch a good cleaning bc wdym it came out of not one, but two peoples asses?
- the scene where they talk about divine intervention after that idiot missed all his shots killed me
- little confused on why tarantino felt the need to have himself say the n word (hard r version) 4 times…maybe it was valid usage considering the setting, time, or social stance of the characters and considering jackson defended him i guess its okay but also its still gonna be slightly offputting for me
- crazy year for movies because wdym shawshank redemption and forrest gump also came out in this year??
