The Dark Knight
I've seen this movie countless times, probably more than any other Christopher Nolan film and more than most films in general. No matter how many times I rewatch it, I never get tired of it. It truly is a timeless masterpiece. It's become a tradition for me to watch it at least once a year, and I've been doing that for several years. It's such an iconic, memorable movie filled with unforgettable iconic moments.
Despite some downgrades in Batman himself (whom I've never really liked that much), Bale's Batman is far from my favorite. His suit is ugly, and his voice is abysmal, genuinely laughable and hard to take seriously. He was at least better in Batman Begins. The fight choreography is quite bad and only gets worse.
Even though Gotham's atmosphere feels downgraded, I appreciate how the movie focuses on the city's citizens which we rarely see in comicbook movies nowadays.
Despite all that, this is undoubtedly a thrilling crime drama and one of the best ever. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker remains one of the best acting performances ever, setting a high bar for Joker, no one else even comes close. Aaron Eckhart's portrayal of Two-Face/Harvey Dent is so underrated. It's a shame that his career didn't take off more after this, he deserved much more recognition. Yet again, I miss Wally Pfister's cinematography, which was RAW as fuck here.
Yet another 5-star masterpiece by Nolan.
