The Shining

i just wanna weigh in on the “is the shinning scary” conversation. i think that this film is a classic horror film for the sound and cinematography (at least for me) but i do think that the film is not necessarily scary, i think it is erie and gets under your skin really well. i say that in a way that makes you uncomfortable and (i know i sound like an idiot) makes it feel “liminal” in a way. i do think on the other hand the book is actually scary and gets under you skin way better, im only around halfway through the book but you can definitely see the difference in fear factor from book to movie. also i am a bit biased about the scariness because i first watched this when i was a 9yo with my dad a hotel that looked almost identical to the overlook so i was scared shitless. regardless i think that everyone’s fear level is different and that this film is all around perfect film for horror whether your just getting into it or already love horror films.
