I fucking love John Woo. This guy makes such feverishly fiesty crime thrillers that hook you from the very first frame. One of the best things about his films is that they're comprised of short bursts of setups and payoffs, and for an action-nut like meself, the payoffs are straight-up orgasmic. Add in the gorgeous backdrops, the sharp sound design, fearless editing, a magnetically charming Chow Yun-Fat, and you've got yourself a rock-solid immersive experience. The Killer is a tonally genius piece of cinema. "Actually, we're very similar. We both make a living with our guns. But how we use our guns is different."
