"Control" features "Joy Division" member Ian Curtis and his many struggles prior to Joy Division's forming and his time within the band.
The portrayal of Ian Curtis on screen is expertly done. Sam Riley successfully captures Curtis' mannerisms in day to day situations and in a more professional enviroments such as recording sessions and bands concerts.
Curtis' struggle is reflected on the cinematography with bleak enviroment shots and stale, lifeless looking camera angles and the fact that the film is chosen to be in the style of high contrast B&W further contributes to reflecting Curtis' state of mind.
Overall, "Control" is a must see for every Joy Divison fan and the non-fan watchers will be greeted with a life story that is touching, melancholic and mostly very depressing.
